Our Impact

Allison

Allison has been in our Individual program since the beginning of 2023. We have worked side by side to help her with housing, transportation and employment. Through our amazing board and committee members we were able to locate a car and give it to Allison along with one year of insurance so she has reliable transportation. We are continuing to work together to help with her goals to become more financially stable, develop her professional life, and provide a good life for her kids.

Seven Holy Founders - St. Vincent de Paul

Collaborating with LUSTL was one of the best endeavors we as Vincentians at Seven Holy Founders could have made. Your objectives align so close to SVDP we feel a real partnership with the organization. Case in point: hot water heater issue. If not for LUSTL, we would still be having the 86-year-old homeowner getting bids on a replacement and she would be without hot water still today. A call to Sue Wilson made the inspection and replacement happen in just a few days! We thank you for your effort and undertaking to offer such assistance in our community. We are extremely proud to partner with LUSTL.

Kayden and Corrine

Two families have children who have been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that occurs in the bones or soft tissue around the bones. We jumped at the opportunity to help them. We provided gift cards to a variety of stores and restaurants and set up a March Madness Fundraiser which raised $600 for each of these amazing families.

Corrine and Kayden have great attitudes. Corrine’s favorite class is aviation and she hopes to be a pilot one day. Kayden enjoys video games. Our thoughts and prayers are with both children as they continue their fight.

Update on Corrine and her family

While visiting with the family we noticed some leaks and issues with their roof. Combining efforts with St. Vincent De Paul, we were able to cover the cost of a new roof for the family. They were beyond grateful and we were so happy to help this incredible family.

Brain Awareness

“I recently saw you present at the ROE institute in Pana IL. First, I’d like to say that I was completely mind-blown by your presentation. Your profound knowledge of the brain is mesmerizing in and of itself, but you are able to articulate your knowledge in a way that was easy to follow and kept me intrigued. I actually ended up staying in your sessions for the entire morning. I am a Social Emotional Counselor, and I plan to apply your lessons into my counseling space. I believe it’ll be helpful for young people to understand that their brain takes over at times, and their emotions and reactions aren’t always their fault. I’ve already gone and searched for posters of brain anatomy so that I can attempt to explain the functions better. I now have a growing interest in the brain and how its functions affect our emotions.”

“Dr. Young, thank you for speaking with the children at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School. They enjoyed your presentation and continue to speak of things they learned. We appreciate you taking time to improve our community by teaching our children. Many blessings to you. -

Dr. Young, thank you for the excellent presentation at Highland this morning.  Your presentation was one of the best inservices I have seen in more than 30 years of education.  Straight forward information that is relevant to the needs of educators who wish to better understand our clientele. I am looking forward to hearing you again. Thank you so much!

Minivan Help

With the money we raised from our Eat Out for Change night at Cafe Telegraph we were able to assist an Afghan family with buying a minivan! They were struggling to find the funds to get reliable transportation and we were able to provide them enough to get over the hump. This will help them get to and from.
